Bournemouth Environmental Hub

We developed the approach of a new visitor centre on Bournemouth Beach.

The Environmental Hub aims to encourage the many visitors to Bournemouth’s beaches to appreciate and care for the natural environment and to litter less.

We worked with the project team to understand seasonal beach visitors, determine reasons that different audiences visit the beach, what they want from their visit and why they might visit the Hub.

We then explored how receptive visitors are to the messaging as well as actions and activities that spread the message and encourage desirable behaviour at the Hub and across Bournemouth town and beaches.

We produced a Visitor Engagement Plan to identify the most promising audiences for messaging and what they will want from any engagement, ideas for the new building, possible messaging channels, potential activities and promising partnerships.
