A major reappraisal of the visitor experience and visitor offer for the World Heritage Site in the centre of Durham.

Durham Castle inner courtyard, Part of Durham World Heritage Site

Working with staff from a range of venues, we explored the nature of a visit for different audiences, how Durham Castle and various elements of the site fit in and potential use at varied times.

We also uncovered the potential for the Art Collection and Botanic garden and how they could be part of a combined offer.

We identified key touch points for engagement including digital and produced a range of options for making the World Heritage Site and individual attractions more appealing to visitors and adding value to their visit. The final report recommended short-term changes to trial as well as longer-term development to maximise potential.
