A National Lottery project to review and improve visitor engagement with natural heritage.

Dogwalker enjoying the autmn colours in Cairngorms National Park, Scotland

The key focus of this Delivery phase project was to improve the experience of enjoying the park for different audiences, while messaging and encouraging visitors to explore and understand the natural habitat.

We conducted stakeholder consultation with estate managers and their staff who manage separate parts of the park as well as external organisations including the local business partnership.

Using this insight and building on existing visitor research, we set out options for messaging to visitors to encourage desirable behaviour, interpretation to help visitors appreciate and look after the landscape they were experiencing, removing barriers to visiting as well as options for increasing visits and earned income.
