Wide-ranging review of the visitor experience, especially what the Cathedral offers local and community audiences as well as city visitors, while balancing the needs of worshippers in a working cathedral.

Liverpool Cathedral

We helped the Cathedral take a wide-ranging look at the visitor experience, while balancing the needs of worshippers in an active place of worship.

We reviewed all visitor-facing aspects, with particular focus on the built heritage and local people’s stories and sense of place.

Working with staff, we uncovered narratives behind the Cathedral’s relation to the City, how it has been a focus for city-wide events, what this means to local people and what the Cathedral offers local and community audiences as well as city visitors.

Work included exploring how visitors engage with the architecture, collections, temporary exhibitions, archives, events and activities; co-ordinating visitor-focussed activity across the venue; uncovering opportunities to increase income, including easy gains and a phased approach.
